about me

I'm a professional ballet dancer in the DMV and a dance nutritionist serving dancers in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. I earned a BFA in Dance with a Business Administration minor from Radford University and hold an MS in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. I am dedicated to supporting artists and the arts, specifically dance, through my work on- and off-stage.

I am co-founder, managing director, and company artist with Ballet Embody, and I freelance for multiple companies in the DC-area.

Off-stage, I hold arts administration roles in dance, am a certified yoga teacher, and work with dancers to eMpower their performance with optimized food + nutrition practices.

I strive to support all dancers, both in- and outside of the studio, and I believe that dancers must be valued and elevated for their talent and excellence.

Melissa is a Maryland Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist, Washington, DC Licensed Nutritionist, and a board-Certified Nutrition Specialist®, credentialed by the American Nutrition Association® through its Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists™.

Thinking of Hiring a Dancer for Your Event? Start Here

Before you move forward, ask yourself these key questions to help ensure the performance aligns with your vision and expectations:

1 - What type of dance performance are you envisioning, and how will it fit into your event’s flow? (e.g., A solo or duet during dinner, a featured act, or entertainment between other activities.)

2 - Do you have a specific piece, style, or theme in mind, and will the venue’s space and flooring support the performance?

3 - What is your event date, and how far in advance are you making this request?

(Pro tip: Early inquiries make for the smoothest performances!)
